Avalon Grand Cancun has a lot going for it: 3 whirlpools, a small gym, spa (separate fees), Mexican Cuisine, 24 hour room service. One whirlpool had no jets working and the other had jets in one corner. The nautilus equipment was broken, the elevators were broken, and room service was mostly continental and took 30 minutes each time. The Mexican restaurant had good food. My initial room was under a stairwell. (I paid for ocean views.) It took two days and 5 different conversations to get it fixed. Upper management is very rude. I did not know that getting a sales pitch for a travel club (3 hours) was mandatory. All of this was for a room with the view of a hallway. It is Not worth 200.00 a night. It's worth about 120.00 at best. And That's only if everything is working.

No A/C in the restaurants, so you were sweating too much to want to eat... which is probably good since the food was awful. Our room was about 75 SF, including the bathroom. Ants came out in our room each night at 10:00 PM. We were told we had to attend a --welcome breakfast-- while we were there. Each morning that we didn't attend we were accosted in the lobby by a sales person asking WHY we hadn't been in the breakfast that morning. When we finally did try to attend, they didn't want to let us in because we didn't have our official invitation! They then tried to sell us a time share, and when we said --no-- they got very ugly. We couldn't get bath towels in our room for an entire day -- and after talking to other guests, we weren't alone. There were no clean bath towels on property. On the good side - the pool at the Avalon Grand was nice and the view of the ocean was pretty. Visited the resort on Isle Mujeres one day - appeared to be nice, food was a little better, but the resort is a long way from the city. We will NEVER stay at ANY Avalon resort again.

I think it is one of the best hotels in Cancun. it has the greatest staff and services, it is worth staying at the Avalon Grand. Food is delicious with impressive ocean views from the restaurants. I would definitely recommend it.

Nothing out of this world but, amazing service. Staff friendly and really stepping out of their way to do everything to make your vacation unforgettable at the Avalon Grand.

I loved the Avalon Grand Cancun. My wife and I had a phenomenal time. The service is impeccable and we are looking forward to going there next year. We also purchased a timeshare here and we got a free week all inclusive which we already booked.

Had reservations for the Avalon Grand from March 31st to April 5th. Checked out after our first night. It was so dirty and the smell was very bad. My husband and two children and they gave us a room with one bed. Went to the buffet at 6:00 P.M. hot food was cold, nothing for children to eat. The worst resort I ever stayed at in Mexico. Take my word for it and spend a little more money and go someplace different.. it sure was not Grand!

We just purchased a time share at the Avalon Grand and I must say I think we made a mistake. Booking a room has proved to be quite laborious. I really am beginning to wonder if it was a good decision.

After booking at the Avalon Grand I read some reviews and I was a little concerned. We just returned from a 1-week stay, it is a beautiful hotel; my wife and I had a great time. The people were great, the place is well kept, and the food was also great. If you will be visiting this hotel and you have a disability be sure to advise them prior to your visit because there are many stairs to climb due to the way the place is set up. Although they do have a section with an elevator which I recommend if you have any physical disabilities.

Our stay was lovely at Avalon Grand Cancun. Traveled with 20 year old daughter and her girlfriend. Staff catered to the young people and accompanied them out every night to a different club which left us able to enjoy ourselves too. Food at the buffet gets tiresome after a week. Downside - someone broke into the girls room and stole $20 out of each of their wallets the last night. Filed a complaint with the hotel. Nothing was ever done and no one ever contacted us. With that one exception, our stay was lovely and the view was amazing.

Hotel and staff excellent at Avalon Grand Cancun... on the downside, ALL the childrens facilities were non-existent... and when you have planned your holiday around your 3 yr old son, this is extremely disappointing...

Avalon Grand Cancun, luxurious, excellent service. Make sure your room type is in writing and you go with a tour company. Management tried to downgrade our room after we had arrived prepaid. After the travel co. intervened this was a nice stay.
