My husband and I visited Barcelo Tropical for a week in May 2006 and had an awesome time. We were impressed with the service and hospitality provided. As a thank you to the workers we tipped often. The food was great, even at the buffet. Really liked the self-serve beach buffet for lunch or snacks. Wonderful sandy beach with excellent snorkeling, we took our own equipment. Do watch out for rocks in the surf, my husband broke his toe coming out of the water. The room was spacious and always clean. Drinks were yummy with the best being from the lobby bar. I advise taking your own insulated mug for the beach as the resort cups are small. Compared to other AI resorts and cruises we have been on, Barcelo rates the best. We are booked to return summer 2007!!

We went for our honeymoon last year May 2005, to Barcelo Maya Beach and had a fabulous time, the food was wonderful, the beach was just incredible, plenty of chairs and more than enough palm trees for everyone. The beds were quite hard, didn't expect that, but the trip made up for it. We are going back this year in April and we can't wait. Just a wonderful time overall.

I went along with my parents and my 20 year old brother to the Barcelo Maya resort. Being 21, in Mexico, I did have expectations of there being a better nightlife scene. But I quickly forfeited that thought for the beautiful atmosphere, beaches, and snorkeling, all available at your fingertips. I ended up finding a group to spend time with, and now, two years later, they are ironically some of my best friends! Keep an eye on your things, closer than you would even think. I ended up having my camera and video camera stolen when it was sitting just 4 chairs away. Sad, but the memories made up for the lost possessions. Awesome place!

Going back for the 5th time in April to Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. The beach is great. Drinks are good and the people are awesome, especially at the beach pool bar. Julio and Jimmy are great and make really good chocolate monkeys. We can't wait to get back to see everyone. The staff that work in the buffets are so nice and do their best. The food is good. There is always something even if you are a fussy eater. I am. We renewed our wedding vows there for our 25th anniversary and it was better than our original wedding and less stressful. They do everything for you. I would definitely recommend getting married at this resort. The grounds are immaculate. The pools are huge and there are always plenty of loungers at the pool and on the beach. If you are not a sun worshipper, don't worry; there are thousands of palm trees to lay under as well as loungers. My husband does not lay in the sun. The ocean is like bath water. I can't say anything negative about this place. We do wish the beach bar were open at night though because we stroll down there every night and lay in the hammocks or loungers and listen to the waves. It is so peaceful there, and the place is beautifully lit at night. We love the Barcelo. That is why we keep going back. The beach is better than most Sandals Resorts. We go for the R & R. The excursions off the resort are good to.

Fantastic place, stayed for 2 weeks 6th to 20th April 2004 at Barcelo Maya Beach Resort. We found the young Americans on spring break very noisy at night, running up and down the accommodation blocks at 3 am and very inconsiderate of the other guests. Food and facilities were better than we expected. Staff were all very cheerful and polite. All in all it was a fantastic holiday and the hotel deserves the 5 stars. We hope to go back next year.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, great place to go, it is very beautiful, good food, water and fun. The one problem was the loud noise from our neighbors. We went during spring break, bad choice. It was really loud and we got little sleep and the hotel security was not helpful and they could not find another room.

I personally think that Barcelo Maya Beach Resort is the best hotel I have been to. The waiters are very nice and so are the bartenders... Your hotel is so good we went there 2 times! Your food is also really good thanks for the wonderful hotel.

I have just gone to the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort hotel and stayed there for 5 days, it was great! But the only bad thing about it was that the guys that are there supposedly to cheer up people, looked real tired and bored, anyway it was great.

Two years ago I went to the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort hotel and had an awesome time but the money we paid for the trip was relatively "ok", 2 years later the price has doubled.

We are in shock after booking and paying for a large party to fly to Cancun to spend a week at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort, only to find hours before our flight that the Barcelo refuses to honor the paid-for vacation. Pleasant Holidays moved us elsewhere, but we are appalled and plan to let the WORLD know to avoid these unethical thugs. Buyer Beware!
