When I first arrived at the hotel (May of 2004), I was told it was overbooked and so my friend and I were given a free taxi ride to a hotel down the street where we stayed for one night and were brought back the next day to check into Tucancun, and they upgraded our room to one with a great balcony and ocean view (must've been the only one available) and so in my opinion, everything was reconciled. It was wonderful. The drinks were weak, but they were weak EVERYWHERE in Cancun (especially Coco Bongo), but since we were All-Inclusive, we could drink as much as we wanted. The food at the restaurants was pretty good, and the hotel itself was very attractive. I enjoyed my stay (5 nights) and would love to stay again. I'm looking at hotels right now, and actually might stay here again.

The front desk is horrible, all the entertainers are awesome but they do rip you off too. Food bad, water in shower hot-cold, after 10:00 no food. Hey they even gave us a room that had people in it and we would have walked in but luckily she had the chain on it. Don’t stay there!!

The service at this hotel was impeccable, although we did not get the adjoining room's as promised by our agent(because of the kid's). This was my agent's fault, not the hotel! We stayed from 4/23-4/28, the day after the hotel reopened. I have to admit everything was not up and running yet, only 2 restaurant's and one tower were up and running. However what was up was amazing, the staff made this hotel worth every minute and every dime. We took an all inclusive and the drink's were great. I watched them make the drinks and they were not easy on the alcohol! Especially being the 2nd day open these people were awesome, they all new your name and we were like family, sad to go :( When we go back, it will be to this hotel. My husband and I agree we don't know how this vacation could have been any way improved. We took the Golden Cruise Tour, and the same goes for the people involved in that tour, they were awesome!!! We love the TUCANCUN!!!

I have just returned from Cancun after meeting hurricane Wilma (not good) but I would just like to say that through this ordeal the staff at the Tucancun were amazing, they all stayed with us at our shelter and looked after us from the very beginning without a single moan, even if that meant not being with their own families. I think this hotel is the best and the one thing that makes it that special are the people who work there. Massive thanks to them all.

Barcelo Tucancun hotel was awesome. The food was great, plenty of variety to choose from. The Mexican Restaurant had really good Steaks and the Italian Restaurant had really good lasagna. The staff at the pool was really a lot of fun, drinks were always full even at the snack bar. I will definitely be back to this hotel. It is only a five minute walk to the Isla Mall.

Me and my family went to the Barcelo Tucancun in the first week of Aug. of 2005. When we first arrived we had trouble because the receptionist said that my daddy and 2 of my cousins wasn't booked at the hotel. But me, my mother, and 3 more of my cousins were booked there. There was no iron or hair blow dyer in the rooms so we had to call the front desk to bring this and they never showed up. There wasn’t enough shade either, the food was average, but they did not have an all night snack bar open, the pool side entertainment was good in the day but at night it was nothing going on so everybody was looking for stuff to do. The rooms don’t get cold enough and there weren’t enough towels in the rooms. The Front Desk service was very poor.

We have been going to Cancun for the last 11 years. Stayed at small, medium and large resorts. But the last five years staying only at the best and friendliest TUNCANCUN BEACH RESORT & VILLAS. The place is located close to everything. Just a short bus ride. Never any problems here.

Tucancun was absolutely fantastic - great food, great service, not one complaint.

Went to Tucancun Beach Hotel July 2002 with Husband, 2 son's and Mother. 1st time in Mexico and we all loved it. Rooms maybe could be a bit more modern and aircon in our son's room kept breaking down, and unwanted cockroach tried to stay in room too. Showers at peak times go hot and cold all time! Food was acceptable, snack food on poolside was maybe a bit rubbery and there definitely wasn't enough shade on poolside, I got up at 6am every morning to make sure kids had some shade. We found the hotel entertainment staff very good (Nice Shoes)! We would still go back there though, the location was amazing. I can still hear the roar of the ocean and loved watching all the turtles clamber up the beach to lay their eggs, what a sight.

My husband and I went to the Tucancun hotel in April 2004, we had a wonderful time. The beach was beautiful, the staff friendly, the only complaint was the choice of foods, but we ate at the Mexican restaurant and it was fine. We are going back this June with our kids. For the price the hotel was great. If you want the Ritz then you’ll have to pay a lot more.

Just got back from 7 days at the Tucancun. Very pleased with the hotel. Staff fantastic, we found the food wonderful, really fresh and tasty. The Mexican Dinner Show was brilliant; the dancers received a standing ovation! The only criticism I have, being auburn and freckly, is there was a lack of shade around the pool area; we had to get up early to get decent sun beds. Apart from that we had a great time and I can recommend it to anyone.

The Tucancun hotel is off the hook, first I jus want to say thank you to all the bartenders for helping me have good memories that only pictures can explain... Also all the staff was wonderful but all this hotel needs is a few more drinking games at the pool area and people will be flocking during graduation and spring break times! But we all had one hell of a time! Thank you!

My husband and I stayed at the Tucancun for our honeymoon in mid-July 2004. Considering that we spent around $1500 for airfare, all-inclusive, etc., I was extremely pleased with the hotel. The service was awesome and we even got a free upgrade because it was our honeymoon! I thought the food was fine, even though on this site, there have been quite a few complaints. The hotel is right across the street from the Kukulcan plaza, which is where we got a lot of our souvenirs. The beach is beautiful in front of this hotel. My new husband and I were walking down the beach one night and saw a big turtle headed out to sea. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It is the most bang for your buck, as well as being a very nice place. My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon and someday hopefully will get to go back!

My wife and I were at the Tucancun in Feb. 05'. Nice place right on the beach. Nice room with a super view of the crystal blue water. Friendly staff with good service. The Activities team were very friendly, energetic, and fun and always had great games or contest going on around the pool (thanks Johnny, Hassan, Victor, Angel and of course the beautiful and lovely Veronica and Gloria) for making our stay fun. I will have to say that the food was not very pleasing. The choices were minimal and very repetitive. Not to mention also very bland. Located on a nice beach and across the street from the mall and other shopping areas. Also great for the long 1-2 hr walks on the sandy white beaches. Always fun to walk along and check the other hotels and people. We've been to Cancun every year the past 5 years and I would rate this hotel a 5 out of 10 in comparison to where we have stayed, (only because of the food).

We just got back from Cancun... When we 1st got to the Tucancun we had to pay extra because the rates are different than what’s on the Internet. We found the room for $640.00 and had to pay an extra $150.00 Then when we got to our room we did not get the room we reserved and we reserved a suite... got a standard room that cost us $150.00 more. We called this place 3 times before we were to arrived ...We talked to manager and told him we didn't get what we reserved and the room didn't room look nothing what we saw on internet. His quote "what you see isn’t what you always get" talking about false advertising... The beds were hard as rocks ... the showers would go from cold to hot and burn your body parts. There is no gift shop at all in the hotel .The food was horrible the 1st day we were there .1 restaurant was closed (3pm) so we went to snack bar cold hotdogs and cold hamburgers. Breakfast was really one of the best meals there was because it was cook (eggs that is) right there. The rest of the buffet of the food were left overs from day before as what it looked liked we were afraid to eat it ... The last day there the food was very fresh and quite tasty after 4 nights and 5 days. I am an airline employee and was suppose to have gotten a discount, which we never did and didn’t get anything in return after we told the manager on the day of our departure ... I do not recommend this hotel at all not even to my worst enemy.

We stayed at the Tucancun and had a great time. We agree with the food being not so good. It’s probably the only reason we wouldn't go back. The staff was awesome and we love the entertainment staff. They really did a great job.

Just returned from 10 days and Tucancun is the worst hotel in the hotel zone. There were 8 of us and on at least 3 different days the air conditioning broke down and could not be repaired for 24 hours and then would only cool the rooms to about 80 deg. The hotel staff could not move any of us to other rooms that had air. The food was fair in the buffet but the menus never changed the Italian restaurant was lousy and the Mexican restaurant is only open 3 days a week with reservations needed, then half of the menu items were not available and we were in the first seating at opening. The snack bar served hot dogs that sat in steamers for hours and hamburgers that met the same fait. The bars were under staffed and the lines for drinks were always long. The hotel staff would not quiet a group of kids that partied in the hallways until 3am until they started a fistfight in the lobby bar and the police were called then the hotel would not press charges so the kids kept drinking until the fight started over. Only then did the hotel have the person who started the fight removed and he was back within two hours to try again. This being my sixth trip to Cancun and this being the worst hotel I have stayed at I could not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Spent 5 days at Tucancun in Oct of 03 and had a great time. The entire family really enjoyed the beach, pools, and most of all, the food and drinks. Great staff, with no problems.

Great hotel! Great food, great drinks, great service. Right across from mall. Perfect vacation. Thanks Gonzales for hooking us up with van to leave. Incredible and unforgettable vacation. Tucancun deserves 5 stars!

I have just completed a 2 week stay in Tucancun hotel. Service and cleanliness is remarkable and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. I found the hotel staff to be more than helpful, made it into a superb holiday!

Cancun is wonderful and the Tucancun was a lovely place to stay. Most of the staff are great. They are really funny and polite. Only problem was found bar man, Jose, very sleazy. Rooms were really clean, food great and cocktails even better! Nicely situated in the middle of the strip. I've only been back 2 weeks and miss it already. Thanks Nicholas for those very strong strawberry daiquiris you made me!

I just returned from vacations in Mexico with two friends, March 1-8. We were at the Tucancun Beach and had a blast. We will never forget this trip. The staff deserves A+ Pedro, thanks for so many Margaritas! We will miss all the entertainment staff. Julia, Rebeca and Rosa... "THE TIAS".

Fun Time I had at Tucancun from Feb.22nd to Feb. 29th of 2004. I recommend to get the pamphlet titled "Swim With Your Horse" because that is a fun thing to do; warning food at snack bar is made of donkey meat so we only ate the French fries and the purified water.

Tucancun has great atmosphere, friendly staff & great room with a wonderful view. The activity pool was my main destination everyday as the activity staff provided lots of laughs & aquatic exercise. I was here in February 2003 & I have already booked my return for February 2004. If you are looking for a destination where you can just kick back & relax or play all day, then this is the place for you!

We had no problem at Tucancun. Met nice people and all of us fell in love, 2 with someone and the other with the sea. The pools are great and the food was good and I personally was never hungry. Easy access to the good clubs. We even walked back from Daddy Rock, it took us about 1hr and 40 min with a break.

The front desk at Tucancun hotel was terrible. Although I didnt stay at this hotel, I did go there to visit a friend. After talking for 2 hours, I started to leave. Once I got to the lobby I was accused of breaking the law by entering their hotel (even though security let me through) and they said that if my friends and I didnt give them 40 dollars, we were going straight to jail. The money hungry people had no intentions of giving that money to authority. From what I hear from others, if you wanna have a good time, dont go to Tuncancun.
