Visited Club Med in October 2003. They have a gorgeous location - the last hotel at the very bottom of the island. It has some of the only snorkeling close to Cancun - right off the beach on the south side of the village. If you like staying away from the main congestion of the hotel strip area, then CM is the place. The public bus offers cheap and reliable transport up to the shopping and disco/bar areas, but CM has it's own bar and discotheque too. The beach is beautiful and the ocean is calmer here because of the protection provided by the point. Lots of sports and activities available (kayak, tennis, snorkel, sailing, soccer...) - beach towels provided. The food is good, but not as exotic as some other CMs. The main bonus is that the club is now totally all-inclusive, which includes all food and drinks (it was not always like this). When we went, the waterskiing was not available (they used to ski in the lagoon). Rooms are clean and basic (CM does not cater to the pampered traveler, so don't expect the utmost in luxury). A tip - ask for oceanside or oceanfront (you will pay more), rather than garden view as these rooms are on the lagoon side which can smell a bit stagnant and doesn't get the breeze that the ocean side gets.
