We went to Coco's in April 2008, and it was better than we ever imagined! If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place! The owners, Helmut and Silvia, are the most gracious hosts we've ever met. Helmut is an excellent chef, and Silvia's margaritas are to die for! This vacation was a perfect escape and very relaxing! The beach is great, and you're less than five miles from Playa (should you need to go to town). We have already booked our trip to go back next month.

Helmut and his wife Sylvia are still there, and still create a veritable paradise. Great food, great pace, and quaint housing works well for the area. Margaritas to die for. 5 cabanas that feel remote but are steps from the beach. A bumpy road to get there, but very smooth experience there. Due the long bumpy road there, one is recommended to rent a car - there isn't much near on foot, which is why you want to be there. . .

The bungalows are nice and clean, but it seems that the place has run down in general. The owner, Helmut, is not around any more and the place is run by a couple who, in fact, are renting only the restaurant and are not really interested on what is going with the bungalows and the guests (they said they want to stay away from this business and are basically only handing out the keys). In fact, the guests are basically left there on their own which we didn’t find very encouraging. The couple there would also benefit from some courses on how to deal with customers and to run a business (the service was not terrible, but really at a minimum level one could stay satisfied with). The food is not as great any more (obviously, Helmut is not cooking). The beach is not among the best (there are MUCH nicer ones south from Tulum) and the complex is surrounded by hotels and construction work (and trash). We stayed there for a week in April'06 but would recommend this place only for a night or two.

One word-Perfect. You never want to leave. When you think of a place you miss like you would about a person you miss there is something special going on there. Since we came across this tiny slice of paradise years ago our marriage gets an annual dose of that romance you experience in the first few months of a relationship. When we travel back in the winter of 2007 this marriage will be 20 years old. Cocos Cabanas has had subtle changes through the years but it still holds the --magic-- that it had on our first trip. Something tells me that may have something to do with the imagination and ideas that were brought to life by the owner, who continues to keep it just the way it should be. If the day ever comes that CoCo's is gone.... All I will need to do is close my eyes and it will be forever there in my memories. Until then, we will be back every year. Everybody should have a place like this to travel to and dream about afterwards until they are there again. Yes, one word, Perfect…

Cocos Cabanas is the getaway that everyone needs! From extremely clean facilities, to absolutely fabulous food and surroundings, it is the PLACE TO GO IN MEXICO! Helmut (the owner) is the most gracious and fun host. He will make you feel like family and I promise you will return again and again.

Just returned from Coco Cabanas and experienced the same great service, atmosphere, and food as always. Rooms are clean and quaint. No problem with mosquito’s in the room. Truly a great find just minutes from Playa del Carmen.

Had an awful time! Yes, the beach is untrodden... due to all of the rocks and sand fleas. Rooms are full of mosquitoes. The only good thing about the hotel is the food.

This is a magnificent refuge from the harried tourist activity of the Mayan Riviera. The grounds are lovely and offer a feeling of seclusion and tranquility that is otherwise difficult to come by. The rooms were ok, but for the price they are an incredible value. Pasky, the restaurant manager, is a wonderul presence (tell her Hi for us if you go!), and her chef, Ysidro, blew our minds. I've never tasted such a dazzling combination flavors (and at relatively competitive prices). I can't wait to return to Cocos Cabanas!

We stayed at Cocos Cabanas last Feb 2004 for 2 nights. It was a very nice place. Planning to stay here for two nights this Oct.

We have been to Cocos Cabanas 4 times. We go two days before our timeshare starts in Cancun on Saturday and go back a day after our timeshare stops on Saturday and Sunday. We leave for the airport from here. This place is truly a place to kick back, relax and eat/drink. Helmud is the man (and chef)! We will miss this year, but will definitely be back in 2005. Helmud see you in Oct. 2005.

We chose Cocos Cabanas pretty much blind and were absolutely delighted with our experience. This despite the 84-hour tropical storm that flooded the area! Pasky, the manager, was incredible -- friendly, attentive, accommodating, and warm. We will return again and again!

Cocos Cabanas is extremely relaxing. Since there are only five cabanas, you essentially are staying at your own little resort. We found the guests at Coco's to be very friendly. In fact, due to the wonderful company of the other guests and our most excellent hostesses, Helmut and Sylvia, we spent many a late night talking, laughing, dancing, and imbiding (some of the best margaritas ever)- more fun than dealing with the crowds in Playa del Carmen. The beach is very uncrowded (few hotels or restaurants in this area) which only adds to Cocos many attributes. Finally, Helmut is an amazing chef. The food is unbelievable- some of the best we had while traveling in Mexico. Coco's is truly a one of a kind find. I would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Wasn't sure at first because the digs are starkly simple. But they're clean and the small garden area and porches are charming. The beach is private, untrodden. Of all our hotels, the Cocos Cabanas is my favorite - and I'd go back. Helmut makes an awesome margarita!

Cocos Cabanas is absolutely amazing. We found it accidentally and it has become our destination each vacation since. Restaurant = AMAZING!!! Seclusion = Unbeatable.

Just spent a week at Cocos Cabanas. It was super! Quiet, convenient and comfortable. Helmut is a 4 star chef. We highly recommend this place
