We went to Coco's in April 2008, and it was better than we ever imagined! If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this is the place! The owners, Helmut and Silvia, are the most gracious hosts we've ever met. Helmut is an excellent chef, and Silvia's margaritas are to die for! This vacation was a perfect escape and very relaxing! The beach is great, and you're less than five miles from Playa (should you need to go to town). We have already booked our trip to go back next month.

Helmut and his wife Sylvia are still there, and still create a veritable paradise. Great food, great pace, and quaint housing works well for the area. Margaritas to die for. 5 cabanas that feel remote but are steps from the beach. A bumpy road to get there, but very smooth experience there. Due the long bumpy road there, one is recommended to rent a car - there isn't much near on foot, which is why you want to be there. . .

The bungalows are nice and clean, but it seems that the place has run down in general. The owner, Helmut, is not around any more and the place is run by a couple who, in fact, are renting only the restaurant and are not really interested on what is going with the bungalows and the guests (they said they want to stay away from this business and are basically only handing out the keys). In fact, the guests are basically left there on their own which we didn’t find very encouraging. The couple there would also benefit from some courses on how to deal with customers and to run a business (the service was not terrible, but really at a minimum level one could stay satisfied with). The food is not as great any more (obviously, Helmut is not cooking). The beach is not among the best (there are MUCH nicer ones south from Tulum) and the complex is surrounded by hotels and construction work (and trash). We stayed there for a week in April'06 but would recommend this place only for a night or two.
