This was my 12th trip to the resort Catalonia Royal Tulum (formerly Copacabana) We had a great time and it was fun to put some faces to those that I had communicated with via e-mail for tips on the resort. Our trip was April 30th to May 18th. This was a best friends get away. So we had a nice long trip. You will love the beach I think it is one of the best in the area. It is great, white sand that does not get hot on your feet. I have more then 1,000 letter for a full report so e-mail me if you would like the full trip report or a list of tips for the resort.

We have visited Copacabana Beach 2 other times and we are returning for 10 days in feb. We loved it. Everything was lovely form the check in to the check out. The rooms were very pretty and clean. The food was good. The entertainment better than the Iberostars that we have stayed at. The only thing that would make our vacation better would be if they would have some romantic music to dance to after dinner. Maybe my husband and I are just getting old, the disco doesn’t do it for us. I’m counting the days till we get there.

We just got back last night from Copacabana Riviera Maya, and woke up this morning missing the Resort. It was our first trip to the Mayan Riviera and all our expectations were met and then some. We got an upgrade to suite at no charge and found the room to be very large and spotlessly clean. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The beach was always clean and there were plenty of lounge chairs for everyone and sports equipment. There was construction going on to repair the restaurant and spa area near the pool, but there was never any inconvenience because of this. Bear in mind these resorts suffered major damage from a category 5 hurricane a month ago and one must expect some reconstruction. Overall we would recommend this resort. It is a small resort compared to some of the complexes located on the Mayan Riviera, but we found this to be a positive point. The found was great. When reading some of the negative reports, it is hard to believe they are talking about the same resort.

On behalf from all us that work at the Resort, THANK YOU SO MUCH !!

This place should be closed. There’s construction going on everywhere. Two restaurants, the spa, gym and kids area are all closed. The hotels surrounding Copacabana are closed for repairs but these greedy people stayed open despite all of the guests complaining. There is no air conditioning for 5 of the 7 days. We are not the first to hear of this. Their haste not to close resulted in short cuts and we the guests are paying for it. We got back last night and I couldn’t wait to get home. The hotel management lies and lies and doesn’t care.

Me and my friend Angie, we've been to the Copacabana 4 times, and it never gets old! We went back June 27-July 4 for our senior graduation trip! The entertainment staff always makes it worth our wild. Keeping in touch with a few makes it soo much better, knowing you have friends when we go back to (Riky, Juan, Julio). The scenery is breathtaking! I love everything about it, and would definitely keep going back. I heard about all the damage from the hurricane, but I’m sure everything will be up and running smoothly very soon! It better be, because we are coming back soon! Love to the staff.

Well, what can I say. We got the hurricane like a few others but can’t complain, because staff at Copacabana did an excellent job on keeping everyone calm and safe. Except for Airtours rep who slept through hurricane not knowing whether we were safe or not. Animation staff Ricky Jonny Pancho I love you and Valentina Valeria Erika and Lucy and da rest are you guys made the trip worth while I LOVE YOU ALL.

My friends and I went on our senior trip to the Copacabana and had the most amazing time! Even with Hurricane Emily. Of course that part was not fun but the hotel made us feel so safe the whole time and the best part... the entertainment. We love you Ricky, Poncho, Jonny, Valentina, Elena, Lucy, Alex, Erica, and all I forgot! We are coming back ASAP! So much fun. :-)

My wife and I have been to Cancun several times. Copacabana was nice. Food was good. Staff was courteous and the facility was very clean. Activities staff was above average. Evening entertainment of Broadway-type shows was well above average. Never really liked --shows--, but staff changed my mind for a week. This hotel seems to have many repeat guests... a good sign.

We just returned Sunday from the Copacabana Beach Resort. The resort was pretty good. It involves a lot of walking from pool to room to the main lobby, but that was ok. The food was decent, although two out of four in our group ended up with food poisoning. There were a lot of good things at this resort. Everyone was very nice, the resort was spotless. The only bad thing was we didn't hold on to our safe key. We put our key in a bundled pair of socks in a drawer with other socks; find out later our key is gone and 300 dollars missing from our safe. We reported it but realize that that money is gone, but hope this lets other people to know that they don’t let those safe keys out of there site. We still had a great vacation, but would not stay there again.

We have just got back from hotel Copacabana May 15 2005, we went for our honeymoon! Never to be recommended to anyone. The only thing I found this hotel had going for them was their food. Besides that, not much. The rooms are extremely loud, absolutely nothing romantic about this establishment as well. We had asked for a honeymoon junior sweet, with champagne and all. And we never received it! We would call the front desk for help and they were not helpful at all. This hotel should not be rated a 5 star. I as a flight attendant have traveled to a lot of places and stayed in hotels, but never will I recommend this hotel to anybody. Thank god for the staff at the buffet and the Mexican restaurant. Truly amazing people and great service. Must admit. Carlo is great!

We stayed at the Copacabana Beach in October 2004, and what a wonderful holiday there was. 12 adults and 5 kids and a great time we all had. When we first saw the beach we could have cried, it was so beautiful. Mark and Kelly got married on the beach, with all of us with them, and lots of people on holiday watching us. The staff made the beach look beautiful and then they gave us a wonderful meal by the sea. Our rooms were very nice, (very clean) the staff was really friendly, we got a lot of help from the kids club, Amanda (who gave the clean towels out was a great help with info) the food was very good. We are still talking about the holiday 6 months later so I would say a good time was had by the Westcott family from Somerset, and we cant wait to visit again.

I just came back from Copacabana Beach Resort last night. It was quite a pleasant experience. Of course, there were bad stuff including dirty glasses, the food (which was below average), and rudeness from the people at the front desk. But overall, the trip was good. Positive things included the Animation staff (Valentina, Ricky, Stefano, Elena, Erika, Fransisco Paco Pancho, Valaria, and Lucy), the kids club which was amazing and kept the kids occupied at all times and even took them to go eat lunch, and the beach which was breathtaking. I recommend this resort to everyone.

Great place, great staff, great food. The jungle atmosphere at Copacabana was neat and our entire stay was very relaxing. Especially liked the activities planned for the kids and entertainment (shows, etc...) for the wife and I.
Tony, e-mail withheld, 2005-02-17

The small size of the pool blew. But the entertainment staff kicked toochas. They were so very funny. Ricky, and Stefano and Elka who was very beautiful, made it a time to remember at Copacabana.

We stayed this past year at the Copacabana Beach Resort thinking it would be like the first year but we were wrong. Four of the seven in our party were shuffled off to another hotel due to overbooking. The hotel did pay for the taxi back and forth from the other hotel but it still blemished a family vacation planned for over a year. Be prepared to hike about a half mile to the pool and beach area from your room.

I just got home from my 3rd trip to the Copacabana Beach Resort in Riviera Maya. We love it every time! The food is the best, and service is awesome. But I do owe a lot of my wonderful memories to the activity staff. I always make fast friends with them, and I have kept in touch with a few over the past year, such as Ricky. He is the greatest guy and friend, ever. Thanks to the entertainment staff for making my vacation once again, my home away from home! *Ricky, Miguel, Juan, Mao, Pancho, Moises, Francesca, Valerie, Karoome, Alex, and Lucy.*

We were at the Copacabana Beach Resort in Dec. of 03 and loved it very much and we plan on going again this Dec. We went with our best friends (Lizardo & Pooh, not real names) and had to get their room moved by ours and the Copacabana did. Everyone is right about the beds, but I put a thick blanket under my sheet and it was fine. The resort is so clean and has all you need to have a great time. I also recommend taking a big thermal mug. When you fill up your mug with your drink, ask for an extra shot of whatever you are drinking and it won't be watered down. I think I gained at least 5 lbs. It was so worth it. I love the Copacabana!

The Copacabana Beach Resort is the most wonderful resort we stayed at! We had a blast and many fond memories. The activity staff were awesome. Thank you Andreas, Daniel, Miguel, Lucia, Vanessa and everyone who we're missed!

I have been to the Copacabana Beach Resort two times. I would be going a third time but I am 16 and I quit my job so I cannot get the money! Anyway this is by far the best resort out there! Other than the stiff beds every thing was perfect. It is so much funnier than the pics make it look. You will have something to do from 10am till 2am every day. It really is awesome! You never even have to leave the resort. It is really great. I definitely recommend it!

We have been to the Copacabana Beach Resort two times; we think it is fantastic. The staff is so great and funny. Their shows are really good. They are all very talented dancers especially Ricky. We became friends with some of the staff. Last year we were invited to Julio’s birthday party. Although Ricky has moved back to Italy, we still keep in touch. The food was good. The selection of drinks good be better, like more frozen drinks. The beds were very hard, but who spends that much time sleeping anyway. We are going back July 10 of this year and we cant wait.
LaDonna, Copachick5003@aol.com, 2004-04-18

Quite negative experience. The Copacabana Beach Resort is beautiful, rooms are large and clean, entertainment and shows are awesome, and the kids club is wonderful. However, staff is generally not helpful and sometimes outright rude! It took a lot of arguing and begging for a couple of days to get the right accommodations. Rollaway beds were promised and never delivered. Instead of waiting for bellboy to bring luggage, better go get it yourself. They seemed to be short of everything: room keys, restaurant tables, food, drinks, beach and room towels, and water equipment. Most times there is only one restaurant available for the entire resort. Regarding food service, glasses were always dirty and lines were everywhere: for a table, food, bar drinks, or to make reservation to a specialty restaurant.

The Copacabana Beach Resort in Riviera Maya is a beautiful place, but our experience was not positive. They oversold the hotel and did not have rooms for us when we arrived. We had a family vacation planned for six months with four couples, and they wanted to send us to separate resorts. We ended up staying at here anyway, and sharing rooms. They hotel staff made it very difficult for us - we had to battle with them just to get our money back. In the end, they made it right, and we were reimbursed. But it tarnished what should have been the vacation of a lifetime. (Overall, wait staff was wonderful, beach is beautiful, and food is good.)

Better than the pictures, Copacabana Beach Resort is amazing. Hammocks on the beach, poolside bar, enormous pool, delicious food, beautiful rooms and a friendly staff made my trip incredible. Big and luxurious, Copacabana is far away enough from the hustle of Cancun, but with lots to do in Tulum and Playa Del Carmen.

Copacabana Beach Resort has a wonderful beach, pool, and snorkeling. Rooms are large and clean. The food isnt special and drinks are watered down, but nobody in our group got sick. Be prepared to pay $10 for lost room key. Overall a very nice resort!!

Just went to the Copacabana Beach Resort and it was the best trip ever. The entertainment team was absolutely fantastic and kept you motivated all day long. Bring a thermal cup to keep your drink cold all day. Rooms were beautiful, the food was great. The walk from the front lobby to the pool was quite lengthy, but very nice scenery. Julio, Erica, Kwan, Ricky, Penelope & Jacques made our trip one of a lifetime. They are amazing! Wish we were there right now,

The hotel rooms are beautiful and spacious; however the beds were extremely hard at Copacabana Beach Resort. I suggest you take an air mattress, and ask for the rooms closer to the pool area. The buffets were hit and miss, every night the theme is different some nights were definitely better than others. The animation staff kept us very entertained with the nightly shows (a must see) and poolside activities. Our vacation here in may was a family hit, cant wait to return. A few suggestions to the hotel they need to carry more name brand liquors and a slight improvement to the buffets and it would be a prefect 10...

Hotel rooms were great at Copacabana Beach Resort. Rooms could be cleaned earlier in the day as most days they had not cleaned them by 4:00 pm. We would come back to the room to get out of the sun and wash up for dinner and the room had not been done yet. Food was good but not great. Beach and Pool area lovely. Entertainment during day and night was great. Friendly staff - just really need to improve on their buffet - seemed to run out of things, cups, coffee etc.. Nice place though and would have no problem going back - just need to sharpen a few things.

I loved the Copacabana Beach Resort! It was so great because of the animation staff. They were so fun and always made me and my family laugh. Next year we are coming back there. Best hotel ever. Thanks Hose, Jack, Stephino, Riky, Jhonny and all the other staff that I didnt say. I love you.
