Our family traveled with a couple of objectives: Beach/Price/All inclusive/Staff ----- Beach: Highlight of the resort. It is a wide sandy beach with no rocks or coral. With it being the last hotel in the Playacar community, you have several hundred yards of jungle to the left with no hotels and it is basically empty. Lots of palapas towards the back of the beach (closer to hotel), but chairs near water do not have palapas! ----- Price: Slightly more than where we stayed last year (Catalonia Marival in Puerto Adventuras). Not sure if extra $ is worth it now? ----- All inclusive: Yes...But food not that great (we are not very picky). It is tough to get soft drinks here. They have them, but you have to ask for them at buffets. They are not readily available and they are watered down. ----- Water sailing: they charge you $25 to teach you before you can use them yourself. You have a mini bar, but they restock with room temperature drinks/beer. You have to wait until evening before they are cold. ----- Staff: Average...they claim to have room service, but it is not as you might expect. They only provide you with a limited menu. Don't expect to get hamburgers/steaks/eggs & bacon with this service. One of the two at the concierge desk was not a people person (should be for this position). ----- OVERALL: Most good or bad reviews are based on what you had expected. We decided to pay more to stay at this hotel because we wanted an upgrade from the resort we stayed at last year. But, only the beach was better; this resort had fewer restaurants with less open times. No swim-up bar, less pools, and less access to formal restaurants. You can only reserve dinner times for the same day (last resort we booked entire week on the day we got there). By mid morning it is slim picking on where to eat, so you have to get up early to make reservations. Rooms were comparable to last year’s hotel. There are lots of kids and they can go running into the beach without water shoes which is something we wanted, so we got one of the objectives we were looking for. I probably would stay at a less expensive one next year and sacrifice putting water shoes on our son.
