We booked this based on the pictures and reviews provided but were very disappointed. They put us in a room with two single beds, not what you want on a 25th Anniversary retreat. We asked for a room with a queen or king and were told flatly no. In fact they lied and told us they were completely booked. This hotel is neither clean nor quiet. Doors are paper thin in tiled hallways which echo all night long. We were street side and the traffic noise was very loud. The restaurant they tout is nothing more that a grill and a refrigerator at a counter. Overall I can't even recommend it for the price which is very cheap.

We had read about the cleanliness of Grand Royal Lagoon, which was a selling feature for us. The comments were accurate! Maid service, grounds keeping and restaurant were all very well looked after! It's quiet and peaceful here - the noisy bars of Kukulcan Blvd. seem nonexistent. Get the breakfast included deal - the American breakfast that's served is quite large, and the cost is minimal. Claudia was our excellent waitress and was very pleasant to talk with. The pool is small and a bit cool, but the beach is a 5 to 10 minute walk or bus ride away if you want to swim in the ocean. Just around the corner from the hotel is an excellent Mexican restaurant --Las Fajitas--, next to Ty-Coz, well worth trying and very inexpensive (65 pesos for a large meal of rice, beans, tortillas and fajita fillings of meat and veggies). We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Grand Royal Lagoon was good for the price. People for the most part friendly and easy to work with.

Grand Royal Lagoon is a good hotel for this rather low price. Within 10 minutes walk of a nice little beach. (But don't expect big beaches since the hurricane). Low price also for the restaurant, but serving is pretty slow and not a lot of variety. Quiet location and soft mattress.

If you're looking for a nice and inexpensive place to stay and nothing fancy, the Grand Royal Lagoon is a good place. My room and the bathroom were basic but clean and seemed to be renovated recently. The location is excellent: 20 minutes away (walking) from the Party Zone (Congo Bongo, etc.) or 5 minutes by bus (the bus station is very near). There is a small supermarket, a pharmacy, an internet cafe, a car rental and some places where you can grab something to eat just around the corner and beach access is not too far away too. The staff was friendly and helpful so I don't have any complaints. All in all a good place to stay if you're away exploring most of the time and just need a roof over your head and a clean bed to sleep in.

We really enjoyed the room, food, drinks and the people employed at the hotel Grand Royal Lagoon Cancun. Good location between the downtown area and the strip. Easy to access the buses. We will be back to enjoy again next year. Thanks for being there and being so kind to my wife and I.

I stayed at the Grand Royal Lagoon twice: once in August then again in December. I would stay here every time that I visit Cancun. Nice, clean, quiet place to stay. People treat you good.

I was in Grand Royal Lagoon hotel for my Honey Moon in 2002. This is the best place to spend your honey moon. The way the people treat you is excellent. This is one place that I will never forget. I know that I will be back some day, for I liked their services.

I stayed in Grand Royal Lagoon last year with my buddies for spring break 2003, and the people here are the best. I am coming back this spring break to party with Claudia, Jimmy, and Amigo again.
