Jan 25, 2006 My husband and I stayed at the Hacienda Punta Sam. The rooms were not the Holiday Inn and the food wasn't terrific, however, there's a restaurant 2 doors down or there's a little bus outside the hotel for 45 cents that will take you to town or the ferry. The bar did have limited drinks, however, there was much more than just beer. We bought a bottle and used their mixes. The prices were so reasonable, how could you go wrong. The hotel is right on the beach. They are also making many improvements every week. One month later we went back and took our 3 kids (5,6,8). We had a blast. The resort is in a U shape, so it was easy for the kids to get around and us to keep on eye on them. This little resort has so much charm and such friendly staff and other vacationers. We wouldn't stay anywhere else. We were able to over look the imperfections and just enjoy! If you have questions you can e-mail us.

I checked in at Hacienda Punta Sam on Feb. 22 2006 and checked out one hour later. This is a dump! They did not remodel after the storm. The room still had mold, furniture was damaged and there was no mattress just box springs. The restaurant had no food! The bar had beer only! We were advised the alcohol cost too much. We were advised that they were renting daily rooms to locals. Do not believe the pictures!

For the money, Hacienda Punta Sam can't be beat. Contrary to some comments here, I thought the food was good. It's only a few minutes to Cancun, which is actually kind of nice because it's a little bit removed from all the tourists. It's kind of nice to be away from drunken loud kids and rude people. The water was fifty feet from my door. You won't be that close at some high rise.

I spent 2 weeks at Hacienda Punta Sam this September 2005 and frankly I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The food was disgusting! I find it outrageous that this hotel should be advertised as a 3 star, in my opinion it doesn't even deserve 1! There were cockroaches (ok it's a tropical country but in your bed?!) and fleas! I stopped going to the --restaurant-- for the last 4 days of my stay there, I couldn't bear the smell. They rarely clean the beach and the pool turned a dark shade of green due to bacteria and the management don't give a ****. Don't believe what's in the brochure, there are NO snacks (as mentioned) NO squash court (yet to be built) the pool table and ping pong table are so severely warped that it's a joke (in fact there aren't any cues or racquets) basically it's the worst place I've ever been. I've lost 3 kilos since being there and that's the only good point about the place!...... a tip my friends: STAY AWAY!

We were at the Hacienda Punta Sam during the hurricane Emily period. We loved our staying there despite our one-night evacuation. Great buffet in mornings and evenings, midday-buffet at the palapa bar is also fine. Rooms are very simple, but were sufficient for us. We enjoyed our stay in this quiet paradise.

Me and my girlfriend visited the hotel Hacienda Punta Sam for one week (feb 13-feb 20 2005). At first I got to say that the ones complaining on here about the distance from the hotel zone have done a lousy research in their holiday planning. The resort is situated some 20-30 minutes from downtown Cancun by bus, and as I see it, this is an alternative to the hotel zone for those who don't fancy the nightlife every night and don't want to feel like they're in some kind of American resort all the time. It's a nice place for relaxation, and I think it was great value for the money. ------ Of course, like others say, the food was a bit disappointing, especially breakfast and dinner, with little variation. But that's also my only bad comment about this place. The bungalows are fine and the staff is fantastic. Thanks to Pancho for waking us in the mornings by the way! :) ------ The next time we're in the Cancun area, we will be glad to come back, as we see this as a more appealing holiday than it would be to stay at the huge hotels in the zona hotelera, with yelling tourists everywhere. Bye for now!

We had the best time! We have been to Cancun several times and always stay in the --Hotel Zone--, BUT this time wanted something a little more quiet! For starters the employees are amazing, very nice! The food was not all that great but, I am just use to high quality food. Loved the bungalow rooms...lots of space and wonderful bathroom. We were there over the week of New Years met a lot of friendly people! If you are looking for a relaxing vacation I would say THUMBS UP to the Hacienda Punta Sam! We will see in you in April!

We have been to Mexico several times and lived on the economy (hotel hopping, cafe hopping) for up to one month, we have been to several all inclusive resorts as well. We stopped at the Haciedna Punta Sam because we were exhausted from the ride on the beach from El Cuyo. During our two week trip around the Yucatan Peninsula. We were disappointed in several ways. The beds were very uncomfortable. The food was poor quality. The bartender did not know how to prepare the standard mixed drinks on the drink menu and were poor quality. The beach was not clean and the grounds were not completely clean, the ice hockey game was in poor repair and the single pool table was fully booked. The good points are that the room was clean, the lone waiter in the dining room was prompt and polite but busy. The front desk help was polite and friendly. The guests were friendly but also disappointed in the food.

We arrived at 2004-12-14 and had a wonderful time in Hacienda Punta Sam. It is quite and the people are very friendly. The food is most of the time good and always typical Mexican. When you take the bus in front of the hotel you will be in the center in 15 min for 5 pesos. If you are use to resorts and big places and you like disco don’t go to Punta Sam. If you like a nice quite hotel this is the place to stay. After one week we had to leave and we made a trip to Belize but we came back the 29th Dec. At New Years Eve there was a very nice dinner party with live music and we had a real good time. I used to cook myself and I can tell you that people who say the food is bad are not used to food outside there own country.

This hotel was too far from everything. We took taxi rides and it would take us half hour to get to hotel zone. The food was terrible plus there were bugs flying on the food. Make sure you have insect repellent if you stay here. We had the all-inclusive plan and they would run out of bottled water leaving us only soda and alcohol to drink. No television anywhere and only one phone to use in the lobby. The only good thing about the Hacienda Punta Sam was the people who work there are very friendly.

Hacienda Punta Sam is a great private little hotel. Topless women galore what can I say more.

Hacienda Punta Sam was excellent. Food basic but generally good. Distance from hotel zone and nightlife was excessive. It took 45 minutes going over what seemed like several hundred excessively high speed bumps using two buses. In the first week it was a novelty, the second week just unpleasant. Buses stop at 11.00 so taxi required to get home. Over two weeks you can run up bus/taxi bill of £100-£150 additional cost to your holiday! Conclusion: if you want a quiet holiday and no nightlife and nowhere to go within walking distance, stay here, if you want a nightlife book into a hotel in the hotel zone. Could have paid an additional £60 to get another hotel in the holiday zone, instead paid double that in bus/taxi fares staying here, big big mistake.

We had a wonderful time, stayed in Hacienda Punta Sam from 31 august 2004 until 13 September 2004, due to the hurricane, couldn’t stay longer, so were evacuated to another hotel in Cancun. Was a great pity to end the holiday this way. But in all, it was great the time we spent there. Personally, I thought a great place if you want some peace and quiet in a holiday, lovely private beach, rooms were great, food was good, could have been a little more variety, but was still good and tasteful. The bar boys, Tobias, Felix, Giovanni, Victor, they were super, made good drinks, especially Tobias, he knew his job and made our stay a wonderful one. Andrea was very helpful in everyway, if we needed to know anything. Had a great trip in the hotels own bus, driven by Luis, was really great. The view of the Isla Mujeres was lovely. The sunrise in the morning was a lovely start to the day. The pool was great, lovely warm water, couldn’t have asked for a more lovelier holiday. Thank you all again for making our stay a wonderful one, and we certainly hope in the future to be able to come back again.

My girlfriend and me had a terrific time staying at Hacienda Punta Sam hotel on the beach. One down side is that the air conditioning needs a key to be used, which is welded to the room key, so you can't leave it on if you aren't in the room. This is only a problem because it is a little window unit that takes awhile to get the room cool. If you desire a cold room like you might expect at a typical U.S. hotel this isn't for you. The rooms however are nice and kept clean, and the place is as pretty as the pictures. Also, most of the people who stay here were not from the U.S., I felt somewhat out of place because the guests didn't act friendly towards me and my girlfriend like they did to the other Europeans. We are college students on a budget, and I have never had such a nice place for $38 per night, especially on the beach, so if you are looking for a bargain this is your place.

Our stay at Hacienda Punta Sam was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were OK, a drippy shower kept us up all night, but nothing a rubber washer can't fix. A special thanks to Carlos & Andrea for your help, and Toby, Tony and Giovanni for their courtesy at the Bar.

Hacienda Punta Sam was ingeniously convenient, beautifully apart of --Cancun Hotel zone-- and with a private beach. Cancun city can be reached fast on bus R-13. When eating one may not place so high requirements, unfortunately not Mexican however to lecker. The personnel were friendly and the room clean. It was a super mad vacation! Up to next time, many greetings…

Thank you for all. It was an incredible Honeymoon for us at Hacienda Punta Sam.

Hacienda Punta Sam is a fantastic hotel for anyone wanting a relaxing holiday. The food is not fantastic, but there is a brilliant Dominoes Pizza that delivers. All the staff is very welcoming and helpful. All in all a fantastic base and the views of Isla Mujeres are breathtaking.
