Inhabited since pre-Colombian times, Isla Mujeres still retains the culture of the Maya past and present. Here, white sand beaches boarder turquoise waters under blue skies as colorful fishing boats dot the horizon.

Located on the most beautiful beach of the surrounding area and bordered on both sides by the crystalline water of the Caribbean.

The Hotel Na Balam offers a bit of paradise to all their guests. The rooms are small cottages in the midst of lush gardens; all 31 rooms have one king sized or two queen sized beds, air conditioning and ceiling fans; terrace or balcony depending if it is first floor or ground level, in-room safely deposit boxes, 24 hours security protection, swimming pool, recreation palapa, yoga and massage.

The beachfront Snack bar has become the place to be for sunset watching and also provides fresh fruit juices and a variety of Mexican snacks, elaborated under qualified cleanness standards and carefully selection of all ingredients.

Restaurant Zazil Ha offers genuine Maya and vegetarian fusion cuisine in a wonderful peaceful atmosphere.

NaBalam is a wonderful place to spend a few days. Last visited in July, a bit hot, but that's why we went. Staff was great, food is excellent, rooms very nice. A bit over priced, but sometimes you need to splurge.

I have mixed feelings about the Na Balam hotel. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful, though people had not checked out of my originally-reserved room and I had to wait; they did not seem too concerned. The beach at Playa Norte/Na Balam is terrific, my favorite part of this trip. The restaurant at the hotel is very good, though my waiter did ask for a tip, which I found rude. The rooms are overpriced but they are nice, quiet and clean. No TV or phones in the rooms. Some of the employees were very surly and irritated with me when my Spanish did not measure up.
