It's obvious by the complaints listed here...this is NOT the hotel to stay! I've stayed here twice. Once in 2000 which was great! Took the "entire" family back in 2002 and I couldn't be more disappointed. Porn left in my children's room (on the night stand) porn channels coming in on CNN by 9pm, money and belongings stolen from the "safe" and spoke to many others who this happen to. Not a good place - don't stay here. Too many hotels to choose from!!

Can’t understand all the bad comments from people, this was such a fantastic place to stay. Don’t have a bad word on the Oasis Playa Cancun at all. Surprised wasn't a higher grade hotel, was always clean, food was good, weather fantastic. Don’t know what some people want but I would recommend it. Going back in June 2006.

I can honestly say, Oasis Playa Cancun is not the best all inclusive I have been too! The hotel doesn't have air conditioner anywhere except in one restaurant and in the rooms! The food is really good and the service was great, at least I had that luck.. As far as roaches or ants like other clients state, I didn't see any! Overall out of 10 I’ll give it a six!

My sister and I stayed at Oasis Playa one week and were truly disappointed, here were the problems: 1. Leaking air conditioner, not functioning; 2. Toilet did not work 3. Rooms were not cleaned there were stains on the mirror which had been there all week, the beds were not made, the floors were not swept 4. Toys I had purchased and left on the table in the room went missing 5. The sofas in the lounge were a disgrace, torn and ripped and no air-conditioning there 6. The food was average, comparable to cafeteria food, no air-conditioning in the dining room and very uncomfortable. We ate as fast as we could and left. 7. The pool was dirty and tiles were broken. 8. Women, watch out for some of the entertainers!! Stay away!!! It was basically the holiday from hell. Nothing was good about it. Spend your money elsewhere. This is comparable to a 2 STAR.

Instead of canceling our flight or the Travel agent doing something for us, We flew in to Cancun the day after hurricane Emily. You could tell the hotel Oasis Playa was a dump as soon as we arrived, let alone after a hurricane. We had to find our own linens and make our own beds after wandering around for 9 hours sweating. The beds if you want to call them that (more like a box spring) stunk to high heaven and were wet along with everything else. The service was a disgrace. I fell twice on the wet marble floors. We had ants in our bed as well as roaches. We probably would have been more comfortable sleeping on the street. It was truly a nightmare, and any travel agent that lets you go should be sued. Oh yeah, the retaining wall came down on the hot water heaters so we had no shower for (3) days.

What a disappointment! Went with friends who had stayed at the Oasis Playa before, and they had glowing reports. They may have been drunk on previous stay. We had no air conditioning, and when we complained, a repairman was sent. He felt the air from the duct, and left. We never saw him again, and we had paid $50 USD for the upgrade. The desk staff was not friendly, and the only place we could be and not sweat was in front of an open window in the lobby to catch the ocean breeze. There was a mildew smell in our room and we had ants in our room including the bed which was extremely hard with flat, soft pillows. The buffet had many choices, but most dry and bland. Breakfast was acceptable; the beach and pool area was fine. The hotel location is a long way from the action and shopping downtown. I found the Days Inn in Dallas to be a better choice.

I stayed at the Oasis Playa with my wife and son (11) for 10 days, from June 26-July 6, 2005. I made the mistake of reading many of the on-line reviews after I had booked the holiday via the internet, prior to arrival, and not before I made the booking. Unfortunately, that act probably primed me for some “bad experiences”. However, I was aware of that, and did attempt to maintain an open mind until I arrived. Had I known then what I know now, I definitely would have looked elsewhere, though. Many of the things I read in advance, good and bad, turned out to be true, but with the minus points outweighing the plus points. ----- NEGATIVE. We were aware that we’d have to hang around prior to getting our room, as our arrival time was 12:15 pm, and rooms are not available until 3pm. Having checked in, we were relieved of our baggage and told to take lunch in the buffet. The buffet was fine although the dining room would definitely benefit from air-conditioning. After lunch we were faced with a 2 hour wait for our room to be made available. The lobby of the OP is one of the most magnificent I have ever encountered and that prospect, superficially, however, as we were to discover, the lobby of the Oasis Playa is nothing more than a smoking lounge. After receiving our room key, we entered the room on the 4th floor, facing the Caribbean, and located right above the main pool area. I was quite pleased when I walked into the room and saw the view until the smell hit me. It was truly overpowering and had a scent I associated with fungus. Sure enough, the air conditioning system was producing a significant amount of condensation that was dripping onto a rather large puddle on the floor, and the extraction system was covered with black mould, we immediately raise this issue with a receptionist who called the manager. His initial reaction was under whelming “This is Cancun, what do you expect?” Well, I expected a little more understanding and empathy for my concerns, I asked if there were any upgrades available, the cost was an additional $35 per night. However, it was worth it, in my opinion, as we had an outside balcony, facing the ocean, and a hot tub which we should have used more, and they threw in free fruit and champagne for two nights after we upgraded. We were very pleased with the room, but didn’t realize how fragile that pleasure was to be, there was a minor tropical storm two days after we arrived that produced a large amount of water on the floor (leakage at the balcony windows), worse was the water that dripped through a ceiling crack, directly above the bed and forced us to move the bed to the other side of the room, the leak continued for two days, however. This was repeated when tropical storm Cindy hit two days before we left, met with more ceiling leaks and more (unwanted) free champagne from management. Another big minus was the fact that adjacent rooms have the potential to be opened up via a (locked) connecting door. Big negative for families with kids is that all the kids realistically have are the swimming pools and the beach. Sound OK? Not until you experience the pools, which are truly filthy. ----- POSITIVES. The location, and view, from the room we had was truly superb. The layout of the hotel has been optimized to reduce transit times between pools and restaurants. Queues were never too big at any food/drink dispensation outlet so they have got that just right. The Italian Restaurant makes some truly excellent pizzas at lunch time. The buffet was not boring, offered some nice alternatives on different days of the week for the “fast fooders”: tacos; burgers; fish and chips; also consistent healthy options. One of the highlights of the holiday was the free tennis court, we played every day for 10 days and that was for me one of the big plusses The beach was nice and clean and it was easy to find shade and beach-loungers. The beach bar and restaurant were great and located in an ideal position for guests. ----- In summary, you could do much better than the Oasis Playa. It truly does not represent value for money if you simply compare it with what else is on the market in the same price-range. The redeeming features are the staff and their willingness to respond to patrons, no matter how rude or unreasonable.

We recently got back from our Honeymoon/1st Anniversary in Cancun. Our experience there was rather interesting. For beginners...(1)Upon arriving to the hotel Oasis Playa, we were greeted by a warm, sticky climate in the lobby, & as we checked in we sweated the entire time. (2)Forced to go sit down & talk to a representative who posed as a Hotel greeter to give us hotel information, when in fact it turned out that we had signed up for a 90min seminar that we had to fork out $40 USD & told that it would be returned back to us, once we showed up. That didn't happen we were given a gift certificate to be used at a local shop called "Casa Bonita"(They have nothing in that shop but junk!) (3)The elevators were so slow that we had to take the stairs every time! (4)When we finally made it to the 7th floor where our room was located the hallway was hotter than the lobby. (5) Figuring it was our 1st anniversary you would think that we could have been given a decent room, rather we were given a room with a view of the street, Lagoon & the tennis court- that had no breeze when you opened the sliding door, that just sucked out what cool air you had coming from a half working ac unit. (6)The beds? Well, let's just say that if you slept on their marble floor, you would not know the difference. (7)As for the Food, the Breakfast was ok, the lunch was a tad better, and dinner was HORIBLE-unless you made reservations to the Gallea restaurant and paid for your meal. ----- On our 2nd night I could not take it any more- our ac unit was definitely on the fritz every time it got cool it froze up & quit working- so I had to keep turning it off, letting it sit till it defrosted or started working. Plus, I wanted a nicer room. I finally went to the front desk and talked to the manager, he was polite and checked to see if there was something else available for us to move into that night.. to which we moved to the other sided of the hotel where the elevators worked GREAT! The AC was very cold, and the View was spectacular! The mattress was still the same, guess they are all standard. However, we were bombarded by phone calls from our hotel greeter-Lourdes, about weather or not we remembered our appt., and if we had gone to get our gifts. Then to top it off she calls us in the AM again- this time the day before our departure, and wants to know if we will be needing a taxi to the airport! This was very frustrating! Not to mention all that happened above. The one thing I can say is, do not waste your money at this resort! A lot of people (locals) say this hotel is very old and not to mention the stench that comes from the waste water treatment plant that is cady corner from the hotel across the street. We too, along with other people experienced stomach problems with the food. Save your money- go to a real well known establishment- don't waste your money here- you will not get out of it what you paid for. We certainly did not & now we are 2,200.00 smarter now that we have 1st hand knowledge of where not to stay on our next visit to Cancun.

After reading the reviews on the hotel Oasis Playa I too was worried that it might have been a bad choice after I had paid for it. Once I got back I had to read them again to see if they were talking about the same place I was at. I had an absolutely wonderful time and thought the motel could have been a 5 star. They were constantly cleaning, the drinks were good, and food was pretty good for a buffet. The view of the room was also awesome. I thought I was a great place and will be going back. Maybe some of the people on the message board have way high expectations! Glad to hear you had a good time also!

Myself and 4 of my friends stayed at the Oasis Playa Cancun for 2 weeks from 9th march till 23rd march. And I have to say this is the worst imitation of a four star I have ever seen! The entertainment staff is the only staff worth speaking to because the other staff is rude and ignorant! Especially Marcos the barman at the bottom bar, who couldn’t grasp the concept of all-inclusive and refused to serve us more than one drink per person at a time! The food was horrible and every person was ill at on at least one occasion, the lifts would be great if they actually lifted you and worked occasionally! The rooms however were exceptional in that they were dark enough to have been caves complete with a running waterfall created by the air-con unit that very loud! Oh and don’t bother with the do not disturb signs as the maids come in anyway! And to warn any potential victim you will get a bill for $33.00 for a so call charity on your last day do not be fooled into thinking you have to pay this as you don’t! To sum up Cancun rocks, but his hotel does not! Save yourselves and sleep on the beach (or The Hilton!)

I stayed here from March 12- March 19. Oasis Playa Cancun is by far the most horrible hotel. The food was disgusting (and I am not a picky eater), the staff was rude, the lighting in the rooms was horrible, and the water in the pool was freezing cold. The hotel charged us 25USD a person for insurance, which we never got back. The water in the shower didn’t work for a whole day, so no one could shower. It was a disaster. My friends I meet on the resort had 400USD stolen from them. They also wanted to charge us 5USD to use their safe each night. This was my 4th time in Cancun; I have had MUCH better experiences with other hotels, such at Cancun Palace.

This is the best vacation in my life. The food was very good the staff nice and the room clean! I recommend the Oasis Playa Cancun to everyone.

My girlfriend Debbie and I just got back from staying at the Oasis Playa in Jan. 05 and it was horrible! The staff was so rude and was not friendly at all. And far as the food if you wanted to wait forever to eat and not to mention how bad it was anyways! There was always a wait to eat. And the rooms where so dark you could not even see to get ready your best lighting was in the elevators that never worked! So as far as I am concerned I would never stay here ever again!

Good hotel, clean rooms & nice food. Hotel security acted badly at the Oasis Playa. They had my brother arrested for sitting on a chair that broke. The police then robbed him of the money in his pocket (80usd) and charged us 200 usd to release him. That went in their pockets too. According to the manager the security had him arrested because he is a big chap, there were 8 of us (all 30 plus) and may have started a fight.

My stay at Oasis Playa Cancun was great. The staff was very friendly to all tourists (I don't know what the other people are talking about). The food was good. I have to say that my overall experience was well, I cant wait to go again. Actually, I’m just booking my next trip to Cancun and am disappointed that the Oasis Playa is booked. I hope I have the same great experience and the next resort.

I stayed in the Oasis Playa Cancun for two weeks in late October/early November. I have been back now for two weeks and am gutted to be back home. I booked this holiday through teletext but had seen the hotel in the brochure and really liked it, but then I went on the internet to view the rooms and seen all the comments which made me really worried, I wanted to cancel the holiday but had paid to much and would have lost all my money so I thought I would just see what it was like so we went 5 week after booking and loved it. We loved it that much that we have booked to go again next year. And cant wait. Please ignore all the comments they are lies.

I've been to Oasis Playa Cancun 1 week ago and I have to say that it is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. The food was disgusting and the service as well. The hotel and lobby smelt horrible. I had to change my clothes several times in order to avoid this odor. If you want to save money, don’t go to this hotel.
Gregory, gregory.fasana@bluewin.ch, 2004-10-18

Oasis Playa Cancun is probably the worst hotel in the world. My mother and her husband came back from their trip to Cancun where my mother was in tears as the staff had been completely rude to them, management was anti-tourist and they were forced to go to another hotel when the Oasis overbooked. The other hotel wasn't even located in Cancun. To top it all off I tried to complain to this hotel and I have yet to get a response. Don't go here you'll waist your time and good money.
Rachel, e-mail withheld, 2004-10-05

Oasis Playa Cancun was awesome. We loved everything about it. The alcoholic beverages were not watered down. The rooms were cleaned daily. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They had activities on a daily basis. The food needs just a little seasoning though. It was very bland. But otherwise, plenty of it at all hours. The pools were so refreshing and the beach so beautiful. We'll be visiting here again. I give it 5 stars.

Read the reviews prior to going; hear our advice: do not go to Oasis Playa Cancun. I am an experienced world traveler who can tolerate many things but my experience at Oasis Playa was undoubtedly the worst experience ever! Listed are my true experiences when I was there for 6 days: (1) strong mildew stench in the hotel room and it's not the smell of a tropical climate. I've been to Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines, and I have never experienced such a horrible smell. The hotel next door didn't have that mildew smell!; (2) the food was ok, by the 2nd day, you realize it's the same meat with different sauces and variation; (3) my bathroom light never worked and frequently, my air conditioner wasn't working; (4) majority of the staff / management truly unfriendly and anti-tourists; (5) the pool closes at 8pm or 9pm; (6) after 1am, to return to your hotel room, the hotel policy is that you and your group must be absolutely quiet to be allowed into the hotel. Our group wasn't even loud and they made us wait outside the hotel for 10 minutes before only allowing 2 at a time to enter and we were asked to head directly to our room; (7) one of the manager instigated an unnecessary confrontation with members in our group whereby he called the cops, the members were arrested but subsequently released immediately when a Spanish-speaking guest testified to police that it was the manager and staff that instigated the entire incident. Police chief stated that this was not the first time that this manager instigated such incident.

On the whole we enjoyed our stay at Oasis Playa Cancun very much. The food was great, and most of staff terrific, but when my daughter had to go back to Guatemala, where she works, a staff member, Fernando, stopped her from boarding the bus outside, accusing her of trying to leave without paying. When he realized all the bills were paid, there was no apology for the accusations which really turned us all off.
Linda, linda.jacobs@sympatico.ca, 2004-06-29

Don’t go to Oasis Playa Cancun. The food is horrible. Our rooms were flooded and smelt damp. The entertainment is terrible and the staff at the reception are very arrogant. Never a four star plus hotel.
Janice, e-mail withheld, 2004-06-28

Oasis Playa Cancun is not a 2 star nor a 1 star hotel. Motel 6 is just as good. Nothing but punk college kids drinking all the time. No screens on patio doors. The two hotel buildings on the beach are 4 stories high with no elevators. Before we got there we were promised by hotel staff that we would have a room on floor level due to my wife being handicapped. We were set up on the 4th. floor with no elevators. What a nightmare vacation through Transglobal Vacations. We met many people that were disappointed with Transglobal.

Just loved Oasis Playa Cancun. The food was great, rooms were clean, beach was also very clean, unlike some beaches I have seen. Staff were wonderful, I went there with my sister-in-law and I am planning to stay there on my honeymoon 2005.
Trish, yakkerh@netscape.net, 2004-06-05

Well, the hotel Oasis Playa Cancun was beautiful : great swimming pool, great beach... But the food is horrible !!! I'm used to go to all inclusive resorts for my holidays (Cuba, Dominican Republic, etc...) and I liked the food in those places but the Oasis chain hotels all have the same food and it is purely awful... If you have some weight to lose, go to Oasis hotels, otherwise, go somewhere else...
Sébastien, e-mail withheld, 2004-05-27

It was an absolutely fantastic holiday we couldn’t of wished for anything better, the staff were all amazing especially Aldo and Manuel whose bar we visited every evening, we only stayed for two weeks but had such a great time as soon as we got back we booked four weeks for the next year, we wouldn’t stay nowhere else the Oasis Playa Cancun was the best!
Stacey, e-mail withheld, 2004-03-08

I would like to say that Oasis Playa Cancun was wonderful and it was one of the best vacations that i have ever taken before. I definitely want to go back and maybe next time we can stay longer when we are there. The staff was awesome and I miss it so much.
Nicole Digirolamo, freshnikole@yahoo.com, 2004-03-01

My honeymoon was the best, the beautiful water and sand, the 3 pools were awesome and unlimited food and drinks topped it off. The staff and entertainment were beyond expectation. I would definitely visit again Oasis Playa Cancun.

We loved Oasis Playa Cancun, the room, the view, the beach, the service, the food. We are already planning to stay there again next year.

I was very disappointed with Oasis Playa Cancun. My wife, myself, brother in law and sister were scheduled to stay at this hotel the week of February 9, 2004. My brother in laws boss was hurt very bad in an auto accident so he could not go, he offered to give the tickets to me so we could take another couple. The Oasis Playa would not transfer the room to someone else. I cannot understand why, they got there money, what does it matter who is in the room. It appears to me it is all about money and the hotel is taking advantage of someones misfortune. Needless to say we cancelled this plan and are now staying at a different hotel in Cancun. To me this is very poor customer service.
Dean Hamann, dhhamann1@mmm.com, 2004-02-03

Oasis Playa Cancun was casjz. The peeps kept it real and the beach was sweet. I give three shout outs to Oasis Playa...Yerp and a Peeb.
