This is the worst Hotel you can book in Cancun, it's more like a Motel with a pool. A/C does not work, old mattresses (better to sleep on the floor), really old furniture, TV turns on and off without touching it. I thought people were exaggerating but they were right. I stayed from Nov 16-20th and we couldn't stand the hotel. They are selling this hotel saying that the Sunset Hotels bought it but that is not true. I was suppose to stay in the Sunset Royal and after my travel agency (wannadovacations) charge me they call saying that there were no rooms available and that they were going to put me in a same quality hotel... yeah right. If you already booked and you are going to have the all-inclusive go the Sunset Royal to eat and drink or the Sunset Lagoon to use the facilities. They Royal have a nice bars (black label, jack Daniels, Tequila (1800 and Don Julio) etc) and great food, Internet service etc. If you can avoid this hotel, please do so.

I bought my boyfriend a trip to Cancun for Christmas and stayed at Club Carrousel. We had a blast. The service there was great; everyone smiled and seemed to love their jobs. The beach was amazing, the water was so beautiful. The only down fall the Hotel had was the loud music starting at 9:00 in the MORNING! Other then that we would go back in a heartbeat!

The hotel Carrousel Cancun is a little tired, although the rooms have been repainted and the hotel is very clean. The food is good, some meals not so good, excellent a la carte service. The entertainment is lousy! This hotel grows on you mainly due to the excellent staff, tip them a couple of bucks a day they are worth it. We would go back again.

2 weeks mostly good. Carrousel hotel COULD be a wee gem, unfortunately it’s a bit tired, silly things like my room had a deadbolt, but, no hole in the doorframe to slot into. It just needs a new pair of eyes .HOWEVER, what saves it are the STAFF, all are smiling / helpful / friendly. Now the BAD NEWS, relaxing sunbathing should be done BEFORE the dj. Starts at 0900 hours, after that there is a constant RACKET of house/dance/garage/and electronic NOISE, too loud and too much bass on the verge of distorsion. The PA. system also distorts everything to the extent it is doubtful if it is ENGLISH or SPANISH being spoken! Lastly the sea, lovely and warm, after you walk across the CIGARETTE ENDS and if you clear the surface, SURPRISE, MORE cigarette ends. The sand NEEDS to be cleaned! ON the whole OK...BUT ? Advice<> don’t look TOO high and you will have a good time here.

My wife and I recently returned from Cancun and Club Carrousel on August 26th. We would go back in a heartbeat. The hotel was adequate, food was decent, and the view was great. Our room had a jacuzzi tub, big bathroom, huge deck, and awesome view, but did smell a little musty. After a week the food did get a little tiresome, but is wasn't bad at all. We walked along the beach quite a ways and ours was better than most. Also, you're close to Cancun city, so get out and explore. Tons of tours and travel options available. I hope you don't travel thousands of miles to stay in your hotel. I wouldn't recommend going in August, though. HOT AND HUMID. All the staff was friendly, but the single bartender could get a little bogged down. All-in-all this was a good resort when you consider that you get what you pay for. Met some great people, made some good friends (hello Richard and Elayne), and had a great time. Your vacation's what you make of it.

I went to Cancun for my Birthday. I found the staff AT Carrousel to be very friendly; the people we met were super and I loved every minute of the holiday. However the lager wasn’t good but the gin was good and the bar shut at 11 even though the club was on till 1. I wanted to sit by the sea and get wrecked :-) I can sit in a club at home, and it seemed to me the Americans are better thought of and get treated better even though they are very loud.... 8 out of 10. I would go back there tomorrow.

My family and I recently returned from Club Carrousel. It was horrible. The people at the front desk weren't very helpful. We had to ask them for another room because the air wasn't working in the one we got. The bathroom smelled like a sewer. The TV didn't work. The food was the most horrible thing I put in my mouth. The beach was ugly. We had to walk to a real beach. The sheets in the room smelled like smoke, had bloodstains, and were yellow. The view was the worst. All we could see was the tennis court. Don't book with Marina Tours and Travel. Someone recommended us to her and she finds the worst hotels.

My partner and I have just returned form Cancun on the 23rd June. On a positive note we found the hotel Carrousel to be clean. Your room is cleaned daily and the maids were extremely helpful and friendly. The bar staff were also friendly however if you wanted a drink you could be waiting for a while as there was only ever one person working behind the bar, however the guys done their best. If you showed them dollars they would serve you quicker. The pool was nice. The food is adequate however; it was hard to sit in the restaurant for long before getting attacked by mosquitoes. This is partly because the restaurant is not enclosed. The hotel reception will not exchange SCOTTISH notes only English ones. We were over-booked by Airtours and were put to this hotel. Cancun is a good resort and you really need to stay in the hotel zone where everything is because we had to get taxis or walk everywhere. There is nothing close by apart from one restaurant across the road where we ended up eating, it was excellent (Rio Steakhouse). I would not stay at this hotel again.

My sister and I recently returned from Club Carrousel. We were not impressed. We have traveled to many different places and have never felt so lost or unwelcome within a resort! The front desk was not helpful or friendly. Upon arrival, they did not tell us where to find the dining area or what was available in the hotel. They didn't know where the entertainment was or what club the hotel would be taking guests to for the night. I believe it is there job to know what is going on in the hotel. The manager rolled his eyes when we complained about the smell of sewer gas in our room. He eventually came to our room and had housekeeping spray something to help with the smell. We would say hello and they would ignore us. The telephone didn't work in our room and we notified them three times, but it never got fixed. The dining room staff and housekeeping staff was much better! They actually smiled and would have a conversation with you. It was hard to get a drink at the bar. We were ignored a lot. The grounds were very nice and clean. The beach was alright. There are a lot of boats and seaweed in the water though. The rooms were okay besides the smell. We didn't have a good time here. There was very limited shopping within walking distance. This was disappointing. We would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Club Carrousel in June 2004. It was a last minute thing, booked it 2 weeks before we went. For what we paid this hotel was great. Rooms were clean and beds changed every day. The staff if you were polite to them they were polite back. The entertainment boys were very friendly and worked very hard to keep my 15 son entertained for 2 weeks. Would definitively be going back this year.

Upon arriving in Cancun we were aware that we had booked with a budget hotel. What we were not aware was how much we would be compromising. The hotel Carrousel was decent and the rooms were fine. Out towels in the room smelt like someone washed them in sewer water and upon requesting fresh ones they never came. The beer wasn't cold; the food was less then satisfactory. The staff was decent. Some were outstanding and some were horrible. I am not going to take up my time complaining about how horrible the hotel was as I just returned from a vacation and would like to stay stress free. I just wanted to tell everyone that despite the fact that you are with great people who are laid back and fun on a beautiful beach, this hotel has nothing to offer but hot beer and smelly rooms.

Do not stay at the Carrousel Cancun. The desk manager and staff were very rude. The room smelled so bad I had to leave the door open so I could breath. The shower didn't drain. The bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close. The bed legs were broken. The sheets were stained and dirty. The room was never cleaned. The furniture had mold on it. I had to bribe housekeeping to come and clean on the fifth day. You could not get served a drink unless you tipped the bartender upfront in US dollars. The beach and water were a boat dock so the water was slimy and cloudy. The hot tub didn't work. The food was terrible, we were sick from eating it. Do not stay here. The pictures are not true. This was all a con. I call this holiday the vacation in Hell.

We just returned on May 18 from Club Carrousel. When I read some of the negative comments, I wonder if they are talking about the same place! Yes, it is a budget hotel, not a five star. The rooms were just fine... made up and cleaned every day just like any other hotel, toilets worked, showers were hot with lots of pressure, room safes were cool for $2 a day, staff was 1st class. Food was O.K., something for everyone... breakfast was my favorite with omelets made to order, pastries, cereals, juices, milk, ham, sausage the works. Drinks were just O.K., all booze shot from a gun, Corona beer poured into glasses from 32oz bottles. Refrigerators are free for the asking as they become available... mine became available in about 30 minutes after I gave the desk clerk $3 with my request... that's Mexico! We had fun catching the bus for about 60 cents U.S. down to the Wal-Mart for beer, water, snacks and good Tequila for our fridge... great place for the money! My only complaint is that it can get loud outside when you are trying to sleep.

I have just returned to the gloomy, miserable Uk, after spending 2 weeks in the Club Carrousel Cancun. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and my friend and I are booking up for next year at the earliest opportunity. Ok, so the food wasn't brilliant. SO WHAT?! You go to Mexico for 2 weeks and the only place you eat is the hotel? PLEASE!! There are some comments from people who say the staff are rude and unhelpful, well I'm sorry but I thought they were brilliant (especially the barmen, Pedro, George Oscar and Guillermo, hey guys!). They spoke much better English than most of us ignorant Brits speak Spanish and they deal with whatever problem you have as soon as it is brought to their attention. The beach was beautiful and very clean, the Entertainment staff was hysterical, bags of fun, managed to cheer up the stuffiest of guests and we had a great time hanging out with them. BIG UP ALONZO, MOSES AND ADRIANNA!!! This hotel is cheap and cheerful and not for the uptight. Your holiday is what YOU make of it after all. SEE YOU NEXT APRIL CARROUSEL!

Don't bother with Club Carrousel. Very cheap and nasty. Toilets filthy - only cleaned once we complained. Food contaminated. Sea slimy and unclear. Linen stained and worn out. Staff miserable. For those who think this place is good they haven't traveled. This hotel only appeals to young students who get the free bus to the night clubs and sleep all day! Anyone mature would not touch this place with a barge pole. Spend more money and don't travel with Airtours they're con merchants!

We stayed in March and enjoyed our stay in Carrousel Cancun very much. To be honest the hotel room was not the greatest, but we didn't care, we weren't going to be spending much time in the room. There was gum on the wall (the cleaning staff removed it when we told them) and the air conditioning didn't work, but it was clean otherwise. Service was great and staff very helpful. Beach was quiet and food was decent, didn't eat there a lot, we took a lot of trips, didn't use the pools with the Caribbean right there to swim in. I would stay again, the money we saved staying there allowed us to visit real Mexican culture, the point of going to Mexico.

Don’t go to Carrousel Cancun. It’s all lies, the pictures aren’t even of it. There isn’t 24 hour snacks, we had to order pizza every night. They steal from you and no one cares at the front desk. The food was horrible and the rooms looked like they had not been cleaned for a few months. The sand at the beach wasn’t even soft it was rock hard. The Jacuzzi was small with the same temperature as the pool. So all I can say is spent the extra 3 hundred dollars and stay some where else!

We called this motel "Club Hell!" It was far from anything that was mentioned on the Internet! The food was disgusting and cold. The staff was slow and not friendly. For the so-called "all-inclusive" motel what a joke. If you wanted a drink you got one after waiting 20 minutes and the glass they gave your beer or beverage in was the size of a small juice glass! Here are a few other things: * "Swim-up bar" - None. * Disco Bar - A small room that no one ever was in and no one was ever in there to serve you drinks. *Snack bar - only, hamburgers and if you lucky you might be able to get some chips and salsa if the chip fryer is working. * Washcloths & Towels - You get no washcloths and towels only two. * TV - Yep, maybe only two stations that had spoke American. You had to pay extra for the remote. * Water - You had to buy that. * Beach - Disgusting and dirty! *Hot tub - Would be a cold pool! We were totally disgusted and unhappy with this resort. The front desk staff was rude and frequently were very unhelpful! We ended up taking the public transportation over to Isla Mujeres, which is a half hour away. Absolutely gorgeous!! White sandy beaches, beautiful waves! The people were wonderful and very nice! Please read all the reviews for Club Carrousel! I wish we would have. The pictures on the Internet do not even match up! It was awful!

I stayed at Club Carrousel in June 2004 and am returning to the same hotel in June 2005, I loved every min of the 2 weeks spent at this hotel, the food was fine, they cant just cater for English people or Americans so there is a mixture of all types of food to choice from (some people forget all inclusive people use world wide so they try to cater for everyone’s needs). The rooms are very clean and cleaned everyday fresh towels, bedding, etc! This hotel is a 3 star hotel at the end of the day so if you expect to have a "plush" room you are going to the wrong place, maybe some of these people need to read the brochure correctly before slagging off this hotel, big thumbs up from England we loved it cant wait to go back in a few months!

Don’t go to Carrousel! The sheets are yellow, and the bedrooms smell very bad!

This hotel was absolutely horrendous. The staff was overly hostile and utterly useless. They didn't even know that the youth hostel is located less than a mile from their hotel. The double bed was sagging in the middle and the sheets were yellowed. The room smelled like toilet bowl cleaner and the curtains were covered in mold and mildew. The television in the room did not include the remote, which you had to pay extra for, and it always had fuzzy reception. We wanted to have guests in our room, not overnight mind you, and we were not allowed--however such rules were not posted anywhere. The food was adequate but nothing to write to mom about. Our first night, however, we couldn't even get food in the hotel because they shut down so early. We had to cross the street and have hamburgers. The hotel and the staff were so horrible that we left after two nights and cancelled our reservations for the rest of the week. And then, when we wanted to check out the staff, aka! Gestapo, gave us a hard time and harassed us some more for good measure. I highly recommend that you don't make reservations for this hotel. Don't even think about it...you'll regret it forever! Stay at the Omni instead. They were wonderful and worlds apart from the Club Carrousel Cancun. Oh yeah, and the toilet didn't flush either.

Stayed at Club Carrousel Cancun end of March do not recommend it, as the food is sub par, the rooms are average. The free trip to Isla Mujeres was not available thru my whole stay (as offered in the booking-included in). As for the beach, yes, there is sand but don’t try to swim in the ocean: is ugly. In short, no, I do not recommend this place.

My Fiancée and I stayed at the Club Carrousel Cancun for 2 weeks from the 24th of June and thought it was excellent. The rooms were cleaned every day, the sheets were changed every day, the staff were fantastic and could not help enough. The food was not the greatest to look at but if others who have written on this site bothered to try it then they would have found it tasted nice… There was always a good variety to choose from and you had the added bonus of Dominos just down the road if you fancied a late night munch. The entertainment coordinators tried their best to please everyone ... We did meet up with other couples from Scotland, England, Ireland and Canada and they seemed to enjoy this 3 star complex. The beach is big enough to play volleyball and football … The fun, the food and the beer flowed freely for a fortnight and we loved it. We will be back in the near future and are sure that we will enjoy it just as much if not more.

Put it this way, I ate out every night because the food was horrible! And at night the Club Carrousel Cancun is dead, nothing is going on!!! This place advertises pure lies!

I stayed at Club Carrousel Cancun at the end of february and I loved it. The rooms and the beach arent the greatest, but what do you expect at a three star. The staff are excellent, and I would go back there in a heartbeat. the food is good and the pool bar is the greatest thing ever!
Ashley, ashleyjean75@hotmail.com, 2003-03-17
I would not recommend getting the all inclusive package at Club Carrousel Cancun. Out of the 5 of us that went...3 got food poisoning and had to spend 2 days in the room...the BATHROOM mostly! The sheets had blood stains and so did a pillow...the maid stole money from our room and the one next to us even though it was hidden in film canisters. Had to ride a bus to the "real" beach..this place is nestled on a harbor type thing with sail boats and the water is not the typical "cancun" water it has mossy stuff and its dark not clear. Oh the jacuzzi hahaha its basically a small pool that isnt hot and the bubbles dont come out! Sooo if I were you...pay a lil more and stay next door or further downtown...
