We stayed here because the quoted price at the first hotel we were booked in went up unexplainably before we departed the States. Had a great vacation but was not impressed with the Park Royal. The alcohol is very cheap domestic and they serve it in plastic cups. The food from the grill is good but there's a strange odor which emanates from one section of the buffet. The bar staff is courteous and will be glad to give you a shot at conversing in Spanish. Don't trust any of the other Hotel staff. You have to rent a lock for the in room safe. DO IT!! But don't loose the key. Some guys in my group had Ipods and other valuables stolen, only to have the manager try to say they lost them and the Hotel was not responsible. Overall the property has a lot of potential except for the beach which is small, and a bit rocky. Stay at the Park Royal at your own risk. It seemed as thought the sales staff were like hawks on the middle age patrons. Luckily we were all students.

My husband and I have been to Park Royal Cozumel over 6 times. We have taken a lot of friends and family and found the service to be that of a 5 star. The food is good, especially breakfast and the gourmet restaurant. The rooms are very clean and the maids are wonderful. We have always had a great time and never had any problems with any of our valuables or that of our guests. We are going back in January 2006 with about 28 people. What a great place to relax, snorkel, eat, drink, etc.

I have been to the Park Royal Hotel about four times in the last two years. The staff is excellent. The food was well cooked and it was excellent. The scuba diving was beyond belief with clear water at 80 feet. I put most of my money and extra credit cards in the safe deposit box (that the hotel provides for free). I do not have a digital camera I left my jewelry at home, and I kept my cell phone with me. When I went shopping I kept my money and credit cards in my fannypack that was attached to my body. Nothing was stolen. The cleaning staff never disturbed my luggage and everything was always in its place when I returned to my room. In my domestic travels, foreign travels and at home I have always followed caveat emptor (let the buyer beware). Never leave your valuables out where someone can steal them.

My wife and I stayed at the Park Royal Cozumel a week in Jan. 2005. Yes, the staff was friendly. As a matter of fact, my wife was asked to go to a room with the hotel manager after he discovered we had an argument, he would actually call her at the different bars of the establishment when we were together, trying to arrange a rendezvous. Then to top it off, my wife's cell phone was stolen, with eventually $1150 of charges, our digital camera was stolen, and some of my wife's jewelry was stolen. So if you venture into this region, or as far as I am concerned, anywhere in Mexico, leave your valuables at home. During our stay one other person also talked about their digital camera being stolen. Prior to going there I had read many post how honest the staff was at this hotel, well let me tell you, "Let The Buyer Beware". My bargain of a stay cost an additional $2000 because of "theft from our room". My only hope is that I can save anyone else from my demise.
