They did not have a king size bed that we requested. Everything looks old and run down. The room smelled really bad so we could not stay there. We left and went to the Alhambra which is great.

Pelicano (pal-ika-no) Inn, For 1st timers tough to find, but once you do, it's Okay! The entrance is right b-4 the Ahlambra/same street. Very difficult to find at night. Once in, depending on where your room is, cascading the steps with too much baggage (not recommended and valuable learned lesson) the ocean view rooms are nice and rustic side, the corner room with hammock, best! Though the kitchen breakfast area with not a person in it had coffee, the waiters wanted to charge me for bringing the cups back??? Hotel service, the security guard check in guy at night spoke no English, but kind and helpful, once you make the effort to let him know you care. At check out, another nice guy, very little English, but also sweet. With a gate leading to the ocean, the view and confinement within 5th ave, for the price, ambiance, closeness to other hotels for massage, and for the value, Yes, I was happy, but I didn't take any pictures, darn!!!

This was our second visit to the Pelicano and we were not disappointed. The room was fine, the service was excellent and the view was great. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful visit.

I’m almost the big 10 and don’t worry my parents are not writing this. The Pelican Inn was very nice. The 3 things the hotel didn’t have was a pool, a TV, and a blow-dryer. The landscaping was beautiful there were palm trees, and coconut trees also there were, banana trees, and exotic flowers. Our room’s balcony was facing all of the trees and flowers. My hotel room was right by the ocean. You could walk outside onto the balcony and you could smell the ocean see it and hear it. There is no word to describe it. Well there is kind of a word: awesome.

Stayed at the Pelicano Inn for 2 nights 17 and 18 of June. Nice clean rooms in the heart of Playa beach area. Booked a garden room for quiet and it was great. Clean, hammock on balcony, AC. Booked it here on CancunSmart.com and everything went smoothly. Nice courtyard with variety of native plants, even saw some neat birds, should have brought binoculars. No pool, but good swimming area on beach, roped off - no fishing boats. Check out Ya-Che Mayan restaurant up the street, they poured a flamming drink through a funnel of ice down my wife's throat. She still thinks she's a Mayan Goddess.
