Wonderful, wonderful trip. Playa Azul was just what we were looking for. Very quiet and relaxing! Rooms are absolutely great. Sitting on the ocean view balcony in the morning drinking coffee (this is not one of those mega hotels where the ocean is a long distance from the rooms, it is close from the balcony and you can watch everything) or walking out their own pier and jumping off into 10 ft of crystal clear water was a highlight. Hammocks are located around the beach area under trees and are delightful. The pictures do not do the beach area or hotel justice. The only negative at all was the food. It was ok but nothing special. However there are places just a min. or two walk down the beach that are good. One place especially that we liked for breakfast was located about 1 min walk on the beach (to the right of the hotel if facing the ocean). We would sit under an open palapa actually hanging over the ocean and throw bread into the water from our table and watch the colorful fish swarm to eat it. Casa Denis downtown is also a must to eat at. The Yucatan Chicken baked in Banana leaves was probably the best dish I've ever had in Mexico.
