The stay at Posada del Mar was great... We are planning to go back next year, for a longer stay....

Our stay at the Posada Del Mar started off not so great but ended well. When we arrived there was no water getting to the toilet. This was fixed quickly. Then we tried to take a shower and the shower filled with water because the drain was stopped up. After a short conversation with the manager, we were permitted to transfer to a different room where all the plumbing fixtures worked appropriately. (Water pressure was lacking but that was no big deal). Both our first and second rooms were spotless. The maid service excellent (including towels made into swans and placed carefully on our beds). The beds themselves were extremely firm, but this seems to be a common custom in Isla. The hotel is directly across the street from the beach. The --noise-- from the street was minimal and did not interfere with our stay. I would recommend this hotel to people who expect simple, clean rooms and expect to be out about the town or on the beach for extended periods of time.

Posada del Mar was fine -- clean, large rooms, GREAT location close to everything, quiet, good Air Cond., friendly, I would go back again no problem. Comments I read on this site were very helpful and proved to be accurate.

We loved Isla Mujeres and Posada del Mar was a perfect location for our excursions on the island. In particular the balcony with its view of the sea was a great place to sit to discuss the day’s activities before going out to find dinner. And we loved eating our breakfast in the breezy restaurant overlooking the beach, where we watched the town come to life. We were dismayed at all the havoc Wilma played on the Island, but relieved that it wasn't as bad as in Cancun. Where we had seen pictures of a lush garden on the Internet, now there are small plants struggling in the sand. We will have to return again to see the garden!

Posada del Mar was an excellent value...room was clean and spacious… restaurant was relaxed, inexpensive and the service was better than average...unfortunately we arrived on the island just after a heavy rain and everything was flooded...we could only stay overnight, however, I preferred this hotel and location and price to any hotel in Cancun. I would have preferred a week on Isla Mujeres instead of Cancun for less than half the cost.

Came to Posada del Mar for a secluded 51st birthday visit. Scuba shop within walking distance (2 blocks). Staff excellent. I didn't have the problems others seemed to have. I booked via cancunsmart.com and they arranged taxi from airport to ferry and back. Clean, clean, clean...rustic. I liked the walk-up and the free bottled water dispenser (to fill your own bottle). It's just across the street from the beach. Didn't care much for the restaurant that seems to be attached, but isn't. However, there are so many other great locally run restaurants (inexpensive!!) nearby, which it didn't matter at all. Also, the French bakery/coffee shop is just around the corner! And you cannot beat the price!

Posada del Mar is a great Place, walk up price is usually $45-$50 per night. Reading the previous comment, if you expect to go to Isla and get service like you would in America, go someplace else. One of the reasons people from all over the world love it here is because it is laid back. These people that service you live here. Rates are extremely cheap and the service is always slow. Expect it, or if you don’t like it, PLEASE, stay in Cancun.

Our family recently stayed for 17 days and we highly recommend Posada del Mar. The bungalows are a good deal at the price and their location by the pool is ideal with hammocks for lounging. The location is easily the best on the island, close to the best beaches and shopping. The onsite restaurant is great with friendly staff. The four of us give it eight thumbs up.

We stayed for 4 nights at Posada del Mar but didn't get a break in the price. Saw advertisement in a hotel magazine in the Playa; management --graciously-- honored --false ad-- for 10% rate reduction and free continental breakfast at Pinguinos nearby. Pros - large rooms, clean bathrooms and bedding, free Cristal water, close to Playa Norte and beach volleyball, and pier back to Cancun or Isla Contoy. Close to main strip with restaurants, cafes, used bookstore, Internet. Free beach towels. Service friendly for the most part, however concierge is just as content for you to go elsewhere and won't convince you to stay for long, regardless if you pay in advance.
