Formerly Occidental Caribbean Village Playacar, Riu Lupita is located 31 miles south of Cancun and the international airport, near the charming town of Playa del Carmen. Located 2 miles from the beach, the hotel offers complimentary transportation.

Riu Lupita is surrounded by an 18 hole golf course designed by the Von Hagge Associates and is encompassed by leafy tropical gardens. The island of Cozumel is only 40 minutes away by ferry.

The hotel was fully renovated Summer 2004 and has a total of 300 rooms, situated in small villas of two or three floors each.

The Riu Lupita Resort was a 10. I loved it best time of my life. The food was excellent, the staff was so kind and the rooms were great. The entertainment at night was awesome, wasn’t fussy on the casino night. I think it was, but that was because I didn’t know what they were saying, there wasn’t much English for that. Me and my girlfriend would love to go back sometime. This place is highly recommended.

Excellent, we really enjoyed the fact that it was quiet as most guests went on the free shuttle bus to the beach leaving the pool area very peaceful during the day. In the evening the entertainment was good and the mix of nationalities made for a great friendly atmosphere. The hotel Riu Lupita is very clean, the food good and the staff so friendly and helpful. We'd recommend it to anyone, who likes to quietly relax. The only problem being I'm having difficulty trying to make a reservation to return.

We loved our experience at the Riu Lupita. The staff was very new, and a little disorganized as this was their first season. However, being that it was part of the other Riu hotel chain, we could eat and drink at all of them - and come back to our hotel which was quieter than most of the others. We enjoyed it 110%. Recommend it to anyone!
