Facing the clear water of the sea, there you will find Xaloc Isla Holbox Resort. Nine palapas scattered in a lush tropical garden, where the only noises you hear are the sound of the waves and the songs of the birds. The hotel features a swimming-pool facing the beach, a reading room, an exterior porch from where you will feel the sea breeze and enjoy a siesta in the traditional Yucatecan hammocks, a small crafts boutique...

During your stay here, your home will be a charming round palapa, with the traditional 7 m. high-palm tree roof. This structure has been used in this area for many years and it is perfect for this tropical climate.

You will sleep protected by a mosquito net and will be enveloped in the colorful atmosphere. In order that you have everything in your room, comfortable seating and hammocks have been provided on the exterior porch.

Isla Holbox is located in Mexico, on the Northwest tip of the Yucatán Peninsula and is one of the few remaining islands in the Caribbean to have miles of unspoiled, empty beaches. In this paradise, there are no discos, no cars, no banks, no shopping malls, but you will be able to rent a golf cart or bicycle to go along the island, find palapas, miles of unspoiled beaches, breathtaking sunsets and friendly and charming population.

The island is still very unspoiled, not what you would find in modern resorts. We had an excellent time here. We will return.

If you are considering Beach Paradise hotel, please don't be put off by the negative reviews. It really is marvelous value for money. Although considered a three star by Cancun standards it would be a four star in the UK. It was very, very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was varied and hot and the drinks plentiful. I would recommend it to anyone and would definitely consider returning there in the future.

The write-ups do not do this hotel justice! Xaloc provides a level of service that meets that of a five star resort. I highly recommend this hotel for the people that like to get away from it all. While there, we did an afternoon Island tour by boat that brings you to three different places; a freshwater spring that is boiling up from the ground where you can swim, a small island that is covered with nesting birds (including pink flamingoes), and another small island called Passion Island. I also went on the Whale Shark tour, which I highly recommend. There is no other place in the world that you can swim with 15-20 of these huge creatures. All-in-all, this was a great place to get away from it all. The hotel cooks excellent food (at a very reasonable price). Keep in mind, there are mosquitoes there and you should bring insect repellent with you (we found repellent with a deet content of at least 25% worked the best). The rooms do not have air conditioning, but they do have several windows and fans to keep the air moving. If you do not care for the outdoors, or want to be where the parties are, I do not recommend this hotel for you.
